With such expertise in producing green teas, Japanese black tea is rarely seen, especially in the West. That’s why we’re thrilled to offer this unique tea from the Kinezuka family, whose farm is based in Shizuoka prefecture.
After studying black tea production in Sri Lanka, daughter and lead tea maker, Ayumi, returned home to start producing this exclusive black tea. With earthy and tart flavors, Setoya Momiji (Red Maple) is a must try one of a kind tea.
What we’re doing:
- 1 heaping teaspoon (about 3 grams) of Setoya Momiji per 6-8 oz serving
- Heat fresh water to 200º-208ºF
- Steep 3-5 minutes
- Earthy – Wood, dry leaves
- Floral - Orchid
- Tart – Elderberry, blackberry
